BY-PASS PRUNER
By-pass garden pruners are probably the most popular. They make a nice clean cut using two curved blades that bypass each other in the same manner as a pair of scissors. One blade is sharpened on the outside edge and it slips by a thicker unsharpened blade.

ANVIL PRUNER
The blades of anvil pruners can be ground thinner than those on bypass pruners. The thinner a blade is ground, the less the width of the split it makes in the material and accordingly the lower is the force required for cutting. Due to their thinner blades, anvil pruners are cutting easier than bypass pruners. This makes them particularly well suited to cutting thick branches and hard wood.

Ratchet Pruner
- Ideal for cutting tough stems and branches
- Ratchet design compounds force with a series of easy squeezes for maximum cutting power with very little effort
- Fully hardened, precision-ground steel blade stays sharp, even through heavy use
- Low-friction coating helps the blade glide through wood, prevents the blade from gumming up with sap and debris and helps the blade resist rust
